Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

According to neighborhoodscout.com in you lived in Arkansas you have a 1 in 197 chances of becoming a victim and if you lived in West Memphis, Arkansas you have a 1 in 38 changes of becoming a victim of violent crime.

Just a few days ago there was a fugitive out of West Memphis who failed to appear on charges.  This suspect was also served with over $1,000 worth of failure to appear warrants in St. Francis County.  Now he was arrested by police officers after fleeing during a traffic stop in Forest City.  According to Forest City Police this happened right after 1 am in the morning when he was initially stopped for defective equipment.  While the stop was going on the police found out he had outstanding warrants for arrest with felonies.  The police officer tried to take him into custody and then he fled.  The officers were able to subdue the man after he resisted arrest.  Of course after they stopped him they searched the vehicle and they found hydrocodone pills and about an ounce of marijuana along with two pistols. Perhaps this story starts to sound similar to ones you’ve heard all across the country–from rehabs in Louisiana to juvie facilities in Texas–troubled criminals’ stories certainly begin to sound similar.

He was then charged with possession of Marijuana less than 4 ounces, possession of schedule 1 controlled substance, driving on a suspended driver’s license, defective equipment and fleeing. He had managed to not show up for several other charges he was arrested on. I hope that this troubled individual gets treatment from one of the marijuana rehabs available as well as the punishment he no doubt deserves.

That is just one example of what is going on in West Memphis, Arkansas.  This city has a population of 26,245.  For every thousand persons in the city 112.63 will be involved with a violent crime or property damage.  Drugs are everywhere in this city.  The crime data that was used for the analysis are the seven offenses from the uniform crime reports collected by the FBI from 17,000 local law enforcement agencies.  It was found that the violent crime rate is one of the highest in the nation.  When research is done about the arrests that occur in West Memphis it is found that drugs are involved in some way, and lord knows that there is great demand for help from the nearby Little Rock drug rehabs.  Drug abuse affects our cities and communities all over this great US of A.

Synthetic Marijuana

Monday, May 7th, 2012

Children’s National medical Center, Washington, D. C. is reporting in the journal Pediatrics that synthetic types of marijuana are being consumed by a growing number of adolescent children and young adults, and are sending many of them to the emergency room.

“Clinical Presentation Due to Synthetic Cannabinoids” is the name of the article published and it describes typical signs and symptoms of intoxication so that doctors can be made aware of what is going on.  It seems that these synthetic cannabinoids are made in illegal labs and they are sold in convenience stores and gas stations in several communities in the USA.  These synthetic drugs have euphoric and psychoactive effects on the user but it does have other effects some of which may be dangerous.  That is why some young patients are going to the emergency room.  They are complaining of restlessness and agitation.  They also have diaphoresis, catatonia, extreme aggressions, and they can’t speak.  It is reported that from 2010 to 2011 the American Association of Poison Control Centers received 4,500 telephone calls and these were related to synthetic cannabinoid poisoning.  There is a report that tells about what to look for in signs of abuse and tells what treatments the health care professional should consider.  What health care professionals are really worried about are the potential long term effects of regular use of these synthetic drugs.

The people who sell and manufacture this synthetic marijuana say it is made up of a mixture of traditional medicinal herbs – a blend with mild effects like you would get with natural marijuana.  These drugs were sent to a lab for testing and it was found that these claims were false.  What the scientist did find was large quantities of synthetic tocopherol.  (A class of chemical compounds of which many have vitamin E activity).  They also concluded that what is listed on the packet may be completely inaccurate.  The German government did some testing in a risk assessment of these products in 2008 and they found that the plant ingredients were “unclear” and that the source of the synthetic tocopherol was unknown.  They also concluded that the euphoric and psychoactive effects that you get from these synthetic drugs might have nothing to do with the so-called plant ingredients.

U.S. authorities are saying that the synthetic cannabinoids are products of plant origin that have had chemicals sprayed on them; these chemicals produce toxicity and they are hard to detect through standard drug test and that makes them very popular with young people. They’re also the reason why so many kids these days need help from marijuana rehabs.

Whatever these are they are absolutely making their way into many cities in the US.  Our young adults are catching on and getting them with no consideration of what they might do to them.  Check with your children and find out what they know about these drugs.  You may be surprised what you find out — and you may need to consider getting a youth help from one of the Washington D.C. drug rehabs.

Marijuana Addiction Dangerous To Older Adults

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

According to a new study, the need for a drug rehab program for Americans over the age of 50 will double by 2020. This is an alarming statistic because of the deteriorating health of these individuals. Drugs are essentially poisons and as a person gets older their bodies are unable to handle these poisons.

One of the biggest problems with this age bracket is marijuana abuse. Although marijuana is widely believed to be harmless, it’s not as safe as everyone thinks it is. Besides being a gateway drug for other, more harmful substances, marijuana is responsible for breathing difficulties, problems with memory and learning, loss of coordination, and increased heart rate. More life threatening side effects of marijuana abuse is enhanced cancer risk, paranoia, and the potential cardiac dangers for those with preexisting heart disease.

For individuals with drug or alcohol abuse problems it is vital to enroll in an effective drug rehabilitation facility like Narconon Louisiana. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Drug Rehab for Marijuana, Gateway Drug

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

In yet another article demonstrating the need for a successful drug rehab program, VINDY.com reporter, Ed Runyan reported on November 11, 2009,  that young kids are experiementing with their parent’s prescription drugs. In the news report entitled, Parents’ Prescription Drugs Often Springboard for Teens, Lt. Jeff Orr, commander of the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force is quoted as saying, “Marijuana is the most abused drug in America and produces the most revenue for its growers and handlers. It also has a deceptive lure,” Orr said, “which is why he calls it the ‘killer drug.’”

“Because some people advocate making marijuana legal, many young people think it’s safe. But based on his experience, marijuana is a gateway to other drugs,” Orr said.

“You find marijuana in every drug house,” Orr said, meaning that wherever marijuana is found, there is a good chance more- dangerous drugs will be there.

“Once a person is associating with people using marijuana, they are ‘in that circle’ of people using other drugs, and they ‘take the next step to try something else,’” Orr said.

With more of an “acceptable” attitude in society towards marijuana, it is more important than ever for parents to buckle down and make it completely unacceptable for their children to experient with this gateway drug.  Learning the facts and dangers about marijuana should be your first step.  An effective drug rehab for marijuana users would not only stop the cycle of using and abusing, but would find the real reason behind its use so the user no longer needs to smoke pot.
