Children Smoking More Than Just Marijuana

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Despite the fact that drug trafficking organizations are made up of members who have not completed high school, children and even some that cannot read, these groups are savvy at getting clients. In fact, they have developed a plan to convert children into drug addicts without them even knowing about it.

While we have been busy arguing over the legalization of marijuana and its purported health benefits, we are missing the fact that over 60% of our children are smoking it. And while they are busy having the munchies, they are missing the fact it wasn’t just marijuana they were smoking. Drug trafficking organizations lace marijuana with PCP, cocaine, DMT, MDMA (Ecstasy), Oxycodone, Ketamine (Special K) and even different types of metal to make the marijuana weigh more (which allows drug dealers to charge more). This does more than feed a marijuana addiction, it creates another addiction depending on what the marijuana was laced with.

So instead of heading off to the picket lines, stay home, enlighten your children about marijuana and all that goes with it. Enforce long-term drug rehab for those who have a marijuana addiction. Contrary to popular belief marijuana addicts do need rehabilitation before they graduate on to other more deadly and dangerous drugs. Ensuring that your loved one gets help will be the first and most important step in eliminating the growing marijuana problem

Medical Marijuana Growers Take a Big Hit

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Chris Bartkowicz is likely to face five to forty years for intent to distribute marijuana. Medical marijuana growers have been all over the news lately with what some people believe is legal drug dealing. For years now marijuana has been considered a gateway drug, and although that belief has become unpopular in recent years, almost all addicts cite marijuana as being their first drug of choice before moving on to harder, more dangerous drugs. In a time where the country is divided on the medical marijuana issues, it is vital that we not lose sight of the real issue; addiction and effective rehabilitation.

Lawmakers have placed strict rules and regulations on medical marijuana growers. Growers can only have six marijuana plants per customer. In the case of Bartkowicz, he had 200 plants and only 12 customers. Although Bartkowicz thought officials would not focus on his growing procedures, it is clear that he was more interested in turning a profit, than upholding the law.

Medical marijuana is designed to aid terminally ill patients and patients with severe pain. In order to qualify for medical marijuana, patients have to get a referral from their doctor and then apply to the state. The state issues them a medical marijuana card and they are free to purchase and consume marijuana. The state has turned over the manufacturing of marijuana to growers who apply for the license as well. And the growers are all too happy to begin growing, but who regulates where the pot ends up? Everyone is well aware of addicts “doctor shopping” in order to fuel an Oxycontin addiction, is anyone surprised that people addicted to marijuana would do the same?

Effective drug rehab is really the only was that people can handle their addiction to marijuana. Facilities like Narconon Louisiana, focus on showing an addict that there is a life outside of drugs.

Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility that does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problems drugs were a solution for. Some people don’t even realize they are addicted to marijuana until they try to stop.

“I didn’t believe that anyone could become addicted to marijuana.” Explains Lisa Scheff. Lisa came to Narconon Louisiana after her marijuana habit had gotten so out of control that she was turning to other, more serious drugs to handle her cravings.

“I would become very depressed without weed. I always felt like I was missing something is I wasn’t able to get high that day. One day my friend gave me a Xanax and said this will help make you feel better.”

After a few weeks of abusing Xanax, Lisa knew that she needed to get help, her addiction was out of control. “Since I’ve been here [Narconon Louisiana] I’ve realized that pot was just a way for me to stop confronting my life. It allowed me to stop thinking about the things in my life that bothered or upset me. Now I know that I can handle those problems, I can handle those problems that caused me to resort to abusing drugs.” Scheff explained.

Medical marijuana growers need to be policed in order to prevent mass quantities of the drug to be produced and sold to individuals looking for another high. An addiction to marijuana can lead to so many harder, more dangerous drugs. If you or someone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana for more information at 866-422-4650.

Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Take a Hit

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

A new decision by a California judge will change how medical marijuana dispensaries work. Judge James C. Chalfant ruled that Eagle Rock dispensary does not have the right to sell medical marijuana. This is the first time that a judge has ruled that state laws don’t include allowing retailers to grow and sell marijuana.

Judge Chalfant pointed out that the law allows patients authorized to use medical marijuana to get together and grow medical marijuana and use it, it does not give them the right to sell the marijuana, although it is now commonplace.

Allowing marijuana to become legal opens the door for more addicts. Marijuana is still considered a gateway drug. People abusing marijuana need to enroll in an effective drug rehab before they resort to other, harder drugs. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a marijuana addiction please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Detecting Signs of Marijuana Use

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

While more and more people are educating themselves on drug-use, and how to prevent it, it is important to realize that different drugs cause different reactions in the body. Drugs, like marijuana, are essentially poisons; the amount taken determines the effect. Marijuana is dangerous and many who have loved ones that are using this drugs are unable to recognize the signs that someone is high on marijuana until it is too late.

One of the most commonly abused drugs is marijuana. When someone is using marijuana some common symptoms include glassy, red eyes; loud talking and inappropriate laughter followed by sleepiness; a sweet burnt scent; loss of interest, motivation; weight gain or loss.

It is important to note that if someone displays a few of these symptoms, it does not always mean they are under the influence of drugs. A more foolproof method of detection is a drug test, which can be purchased at your local pharmacy.

Narconon Louisiana is a drug rehab that helps people addicted to marijuana. Marijuana abuse does not have to go unhandled. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please contact Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.
