1 Million Dollars Worth of Marijuana Seized

February 26th, 2010

U.S. Border Patrol Agents seized almost 1 million dollars worth of marijuana on Tuesday. Agents spotted a Chevy Tahoe trying to cross the U.S/Mexican border illegally. When the agents stopped the car, all three passengers fled into Mexico.

There is no way of knowing exactly where this marijuana was destined for, however it is a safe bet that it would have ended up in homes across the country, fueling a marijuana addiction with someone.

Marijuana is still considered a gateway drug, and needs to be treated with the same urgency that people feel towards a heroin addiction or cocaine addiction. If you or someone you know is in need of help for a substance abuse problem please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

11 Children Charged in Drug Bust

February 22nd, 2010

One high school in Washington is not going to sit back and let drugs take over the school. At 8:30 on Saturday morning officers began arresting several high school students who sold narcotics to undercover policeman at Redmond high school. There were several different drugs being sold on the high school campus. Officers were able to purchase marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA (Ecstasy) and several different prescription drugs.

One of the most alarming things is how easy it has become to obtain drugs, especially in an environment where children spend most of their day. It is vital that we begin to focus on drug education and rehabilitation because it is very apparent that drugs are becoming more and more popular. Parents are turning to rehabs like Narconon Louisiana to allow their children to safely come off drugs.

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reports that children (ages 12-17) are abusing drugs at an alarming rate. Washington for example has 9.8% of it’s 12th graders abusing cocaine at least once in their lifetime. Other states like California report that 6,000 juveniles were arrested on drug-related charges.

Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient drug and alcohol rehab that does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead counselors work one on one with a client to figure out what problems drugs were a solution for. In addition to finding out why the person started abusing drugs and/or alcohol, Narconon Louisiana recognizes how vital it is to eliminate cravings. Cravings often times prevent a person from ever getting clean, the body reminds the individual that the drugs are necessary.

When a person consumes drugs or alcohol, the residue attaches to the fatty cells in the person’s body; this is evidenced by drug testing done on hair samples. Drug and alcohol residue can stay in a person’s body for years. While enrolled in the Narconon program, clients have several sessions in a dry-heat sauna. This allows the body to sweat out all harmful toxins and prevents the evil cycle of cravings and relapse.

It is clear that drug abuse is becoming rampant in high schools, as evidenced by the children at Redmond High School. Instead of focusing on the repercussions from their actions, parents need to focus on effective drug rehab. With clients that come from all over the country, Narconon Louisiana boasts an unheard of 76% success rate for permanent recovery.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Medical Marijuana Growers Take a Big Hit

February 16th, 2010

Chris Bartkowicz is likely to face five to forty years for intent to distribute marijuana. Medical marijuana growers have been all over the news lately with what some people believe is legal drug dealing. For years now marijuana has been considered a gateway drug, and although that belief has become unpopular in recent years, almost all addicts cite marijuana as being their first drug of choice before moving on to harder, more dangerous drugs. In a time where the country is divided on the medical marijuana issues, it is vital that we not lose sight of the real issue; addiction and effective rehabilitation.

Lawmakers have placed strict rules and regulations on medical marijuana growers. Growers can only have six marijuana plants per customer. In the case of Bartkowicz, he had 200 plants and only 12 customers. Although Bartkowicz thought officials would not focus on his growing procedures, it is clear that he was more interested in turning a profit, than upholding the law.

Medical marijuana is designed to aid terminally ill patients and patients with severe pain. In order to qualify for medical marijuana, patients have to get a referral from their doctor and then apply to the state. The state issues them a medical marijuana card and they are free to purchase and consume marijuana. The state has turned over the manufacturing of marijuana to growers who apply for the license as well. And the growers are all too happy to begin growing, but who regulates where the pot ends up? Everyone is well aware of addicts “doctor shopping” in order to fuel an Oxycontin addiction, is anyone surprised that people addicted to marijuana would do the same?

Effective drug rehab is really the only was that people can handle their addiction to marijuana. Facilities like Narconon Louisiana, focus on showing an addict that there is a life outside of drugs.

Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility that does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problems drugs were a solution for. Some people don’t even realize they are addicted to marijuana until they try to stop.

“I didn’t believe that anyone could become addicted to marijuana.” Explains Lisa Scheff. Lisa came to Narconon Louisiana after her marijuana habit had gotten so out of control that she was turning to other, more serious drugs to handle her cravings.

“I would become very depressed without weed. I always felt like I was missing something is I wasn’t able to get high that day. One day my friend gave me a Xanax and said this will help make you feel better.”

After a few weeks of abusing Xanax, Lisa knew that she needed to get help, her addiction was out of control. “Since I’ve been here [Narconon Louisiana] I’ve realized that pot was just a way for me to stop confronting my life. It allowed me to stop thinking about the things in my life that bothered or upset me. Now I know that I can handle those problems, I can handle those problems that caused me to resort to abusing drugs.” Scheff explained.

Medical marijuana growers need to be policed in order to prevent mass quantities of the drug to be produced and sold to individuals looking for another high. An addiction to marijuana can lead to so many harder, more dangerous drugs. If you or someone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana for more information at 866-422-4650.

9 Million Dollars Worth of Marijuana Seized

February 9th, 2010

Chicago officials are celebrating this week due to a 9 million dollar marijuana seizure. Officials were alerted to a warehouse outside of Chicago that may be storing marijuana. After receiving permission to search the warehouse, agents found 3,450 pounds of marijuana.

In a time where people are insisting that marijuana should be legalized for medical benefits, it is apparent that the market is not full of people needing something to ease their pain, but instead the market is full with people looking for their next high.

It is widely accepted that marijuana is a gateway drug, most addicts cite marijuana as their first drug before moving on to harder more dangerous drugs.

It is vital that people who are addicted to marijuana enroll in a drug and alcohol rehab that will handle their problem before they resort to heroin or cocaine abuse. Narconon Louisiana is one of those rehabs. Located just outside of Baton Rouge, Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility that focuses on handling drug addiction permanently. Unlike most rehab, Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Take a Hit

February 3rd, 2010

A new decision by a California judge will change how medical marijuana dispensaries work. Judge James C. Chalfant ruled that Eagle Rock dispensary does not have the right to sell medical marijuana. This is the first time that a judge has ruled that state laws don’t include allowing retailers to grow and sell marijuana.

Judge Chalfant pointed out that the law allows patients authorized to use medical marijuana to get together and grow medical marijuana and use it, it does not give them the right to sell the marijuana, although it is now commonplace.

Allowing marijuana to become legal opens the door for more addicts. Marijuana is still considered a gateway drug. People abusing marijuana need to enroll in an effective drug rehab before they resort to other, harder drugs. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a marijuana addiction please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

January 26th, 2010

Most people are of the belief that marijuana is a harmless drug. In fact most people are trying to legalize marijuana, citing that it is so harmless that anyone should be able to purchase it. However, not only is marijuana still considered a gate-way drug, it has the ability to lower a person’s inhibitions to the point where they put themselves in harms way.

Officials in Oregon say that they apprehended a man trying to climb INTO the prison. The man, who admitted to being high on marijuana, was scaling the prison walls looking for help.

Detecting Signs of Marijuana Use

January 20th, 2010

While more and more people are educating themselves on drug-use, and how to prevent it, it is important to realize that different drugs cause different reactions in the body. Drugs, like marijuana, are essentially poisons; the amount taken determines the effect. Marijuana is dangerous and many who have loved ones that are using this drugs are unable to recognize the signs that someone is high on marijuana until it is too late.

One of the most commonly abused drugs is marijuana. When someone is using marijuana some common symptoms include glassy, red eyes; loud talking and inappropriate laughter followed by sleepiness; a sweet burnt scent; loss of interest, motivation; weight gain or loss.

It is important to note that if someone displays a few of these symptoms, it does not always mean they are under the influence of drugs. A more foolproof method of detection is a drug test, which can be purchased at your local pharmacy.

Narconon Louisiana is a drug rehab that helps people addicted to marijuana. Marijuana abuse does not have to go unhandled. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please contact Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Marijuana Addiction Dangerous To Older Adults

January 9th, 2010

According to a new study, the need for a drug rehab program for Americans over the age of 50 will double by 2020. This is an alarming statistic because of the deteriorating health of these individuals. Drugs are essentially poisons and as a person gets older their bodies are unable to handle these poisons.

One of the biggest problems with this age bracket is marijuana abuse. Although marijuana is widely believed to be harmless, it’s not as safe as everyone thinks it is. Besides being a gateway drug for other, more harmful substances, marijuana is responsible for breathing difficulties, problems with memory and learning, loss of coordination, and increased heart rate. More life threatening side effects of marijuana abuse is enhanced cancer risk, paranoia, and the potential cardiac dangers for those with preexisting heart disease.

For individuals with drug or alcohol abuse problems it is vital to enroll in an effective drug rehabilitation facility like Narconon Louisiana. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Marijuana Addiction Can Lead To Homelessness

January 4th, 2010

Marijuana addiction is widely believed to be a harmless addiction. However, besides being a gateway drug, marijuana has distinct withdrawal symptoms and has the ability to consume an individual to the point of homelessness.

Eric D who is battling an addiction to marijuana now lives in an underground drainage system in Las Vegas – spending his days pedaling money to score pot. The drainage system is full of people addicted to alcohol and drugs. An addiction to marijuana has caused Eric to resort to living a life usually reserved for people addicted to much “harder” drugs like heroin or crack cocaine.

When a person is addicted to marijuana they don’t realize that they can change. They don’t realize that marijuana no longer has to rule their life. Rehabilitation for marijuana is possible. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Medical Marijuana Opens The Doors For More Addicts

December 29th, 2009

In 2000, Colorado voters legalized medical marijuana. It was an attempt to capitalize on an untapped market. Unfortunately this will ultimately cause more people to become addicted to marijuana and eventually end up in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities like Narconon Louisiana.

There are several loopholes in the law that was made even looser in 2007 when the courts lifted the 5 person limit medical marijuana dispensaries could service. The biggest loophole is that it only requires one visit to the doctor and one recommendation from him or her to be able to apply for a medical marijuana card. And with a card that never expires, users are off to the races. It is clear that along with medical marijuana dispensaries come added funds to the local economy. Growers have to buy land, rent warehouses and hire employees – but to what cost? Are we showing the rest of the world that marijuana is ok? Are we forgetting that marijuana is still considered a gateway drug?

Jeff Lukas, Executive Director of Narconon Louisiana, has seen first hand how marijuana leads to harder, more dangerous drugs. “I talk to hundreds of addicts a year and almost all of the cite marijuana as being their first drug. Eventually you move on to different drugs like heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine when marijuana no longer provides you with the same feeling anymore.”

Unlike other rehabilitation facilities, Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead they focus on helping the individual locate what problems drugs were a solution for. Once those problems are isolated and handled they no longer feel the need to turn to places like medical marijuana dispensaries, or any other type of drug.

In addition to handling the cause of addiction, Narconon Louisiana also employs a unique sauna detoxification method. Clients who enroll in the program are provided with a way to detoxify their bodies from all harmful drug residues. Clients spend time in a dry heat sauna, eliminating the residue responsible for cravings. These cravings are what prevent an addict from ever staying away from drugs.

Medical marijuana dispensaries are not the answer. There are several loopholes that will only promote addiction. As more and more people become educated on addiction and its effects, it’s time to focus on real solutions.

Marijuana addiction does not have to escalate any further. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650
