Elderly Abusing Marijuana

July 18th, 2010

An odd trend is starting to take place; elderly people are beginning to abuse marijuana at alarming rates. It is important to realize that regardless of age, addiction among elderly has the exact same components as addictions among the younger generations.

Marijuana is a drug that inhibits a person’s ability to perceive. This means that when they consume marijuana it numbs them to some extent. One drug and alcohol rehab has an intirely different approach to addiction, and it’s working.

Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient drug and alcohol rehab that does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problem, or problems, drugs and alcohol were a solution for in the first place. Once that problem is isolated and handled, marijuana is no longer the problem, and the person is able to move forward with their lives.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a marijuana addiction please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information. Help is available.

Dr. Pushing Marijuana

July 9th, 2010

A Doctor practicing out of Colorado was arrested this week for distributing medical marijuana cards without a justifiable reason. Much like the doctors who are allowing their patients to purchase prescriptions for Oxycontin, this doctor is nothing more than a glorified drug dealer. While some people insist that marijuana is okay, and that the drug is not addictive, it is still considered a gateway drug.

So until these doctors, looking to make a quick buck, can be gotten off the streets, the only real way to handle a marijuana addiction is to enroll in a long-term, drug and alcohol rehab. One such rehab is Narconon Louisiana. This treatment center has become well known for it’s unheard of success rate. They currently boast a 76% success rate for permanent recovery from drugs and alcohol.

If you or anyone you know is suffering from a drug or alcohol addiction please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information. Help is available.

Television Star Arrested For Marijuana Possession

June 10th, 2010

Chace Crawfor, star of Gossip Girl, was arrested last week for possession of marijuana. Although Crawford seems to think this is no big deal, releasing a statement basically saying that he is young and what do you expect? Some would say though that as a person in the spot light, with a fan base of young teenage girls, would value his image just a little more and take his status as a role maodel just a little more seriously.

Marijuana addiction has plagued us since the sixties, and while many believe that the drug is harmless, it is evident that it is absolutely a gateway drug. In fact, it is a safe bet that most heroin and cocaine addicts started off abusing marijuana first, before moving on to harder and more dangerous drugs.

Marijuana addiction needs to be handled with long-term rehabilitation. One rehab center, Narconon Lousiana, is proving that marijuana addiction can be handled and it can be handled permanently. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a substance abuse problem please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

More Children Found Abusing Pot Than Ever Before

June 3rd, 2010

Lately the news has been filled with stories about children being found in the presence of marijuana or with marijuana in their systems. And while the debates on whether or not to legalize pot continue these stories paint a bit of a different picture regarding marijuana than the advocates do.

People that are pro marijuana legalization will spout of about how the drug is not addictive and how it has medicinal value. What they are not mentioning is that marijuana is very a much a gateway drug (despite anything else that someone may say) and that children are growing up in its presence.

Marijuana abuse that starts at such a young age will eventually lead to other, more dangerous drugs. Over time the marijuana will stop having an effect on the person and they will resort to other, harder drugs as a way to get high. Additionally, the amount of brain cells that marijuana kills wreaks havoc on a child’s learning abilities.

If you or anyone you know is suffering from an addiction to marijuana the only thing that will handle that is to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehab. Please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

As the baby boomer generation gets older and begins thinking about retirement, a new trend is starting to appear. Baby boomers are beginning to become addicted to marijuana. While most people think of young children experimenting with the drug, and hopefully disregarding it after a few years, older generations are embracing it and unfortunately, becoming addicted.

Marijuana is not the harmless drug that most people think it is, in fact, it is extremely dangerous. Most doctors will cite the extreme amounts of carcinogens and the cognitive problems that marijuana creates in the body as the main reason why marijuana is so dangerous to older people.

The only real way to handle a marijuana addiction is to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehab. One rehab, Narconon Louisiana has providing successful recovery help to hundreds of clients for over four years. New Drug Proves That Marijuana Is Addictive

May 24th, 2010

The great debate has always been whether or not marijuana is addictive or not. Well a new blend of spices (usually a combination of vanilla, baybean and other spices) has allowed addicts to find another method of achieving the same high that marijuana provides. This is another indication that marijuana is addictive, addicts are forced to find other alternatives to weed when there is none available.

The only real way to handle a marijuana addiction is by enrolling in a long-term drug and alcohol rehab. There are thousands of rehabs across the U.S. that will provide this help, but not many can boast the 76% success rate that Narconon Louisiana boasts.

Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problem drugs and alcohol were a solution for. Once that problem is isolated and handled addicts no longer feel compelled to use drugs like marijuana as a method to get through life.

The White House Agrees – Keep Marijuana Illegal

May 13th, 2010

Amid heated debates regarding the legalization of marijuana, the While House is speaking up. In fact, not only are they vocal about not legalizing marijuana but they have even published their stance.

Included in the White House’s 2010 Drug Control Strategy is this;

“We have many proven methods for reducing the demand for drugs. Keeping drugs illegal reduces their availability and lessens willingness to use them. That is why this Administration firmly opposes the legalization of marijuana or any other illicit drug. Legalizing drugs would increase accessibility and encourage promotion and acceptance of use. Diagnostic, laboratory, clinical, and epidemiological studies clearly indicate that marijuana use is associated with dependence, respiratory and mental illness, poor motor performance, and cognitive impairment, among other negative effects, and legalization would only exacerbate these problems.”

Regardless of your political views, Obama and his team are right about marijuana being a gateway drug. They are also taking away a major argument for those who are pushing for the legalization of marijuana, that legalizing it would help the government increase the amount of money coming to them; apparently the government doesn’t want that kind of money.

The only real way to handle a marijuana addiction is by enrolling in a drug and alcohol rehab like Narconon Louisiana. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a substance abuse problem, please call 866-422-4650 for more information.

Alarming Marijuana Statistics

April 29th, 2010

While the marijuana debate rages on, it is vital that people don’t lose sight of the facts. Here are some alarming statistics to consider.

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that an estimated 97.5 million Americans aged 12 and older have used marijuana at least once in their lives. That is 40.1% of the people in that age group.

Reaction time for motor skills such as driving, is reduced by 41% after smoking 1 joint.

Data shows that people high on marijuana show the same lack of coordination on standard “drunk driver” tests as those who have had too much to drink.

In 1995, 165,000 people entering into drug rehab reported marijuana as their drug of choice.

There has been over 7,000 published scientific and medical studies documenting the damage that marijuana poses. Not one study shows marijuana to be safe.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a marijuana addiction it is vital that help is sought out at a drug and alcohol rehab. Please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.
